Users simply choose their coin pair, send funds to a generated deposit address, and receive the swapped assets directly in their personal wallet. This automated approach eliminates the friction and counterparty risk often associated with traditional centralized exchanges.

From an affiliate perspective, SideShift offers a flexible referral and integration program that caters to both casual referrers and deep API integrations. The program functions primarily as a revenue-sharing model where partners earn based on the total swap volume of their referrals. For web-based referrals, the system relies on a first-touch attribution model; commissions are only applied if the user enters the platform through the referral link for the first time. For developers and wallet providers, SideShift offers extensive API documentation to embed swap functionality directly into third-party applications, using an affiliate ID to track transactions.

Earnings are distributed in SideShift’s native token, XAI, which can be held, staked for a share of platform revenue, or automatically converted into other cryptocurrencies. The commission rate is remarkably transparent, with a default 0.5% share of the total shift volume. Notably, integration partners using the API have the flexibility to adjust this commission rate between 0% and 2%. If a partner chooses a higher rate, the cost is passed on to the end user via the exchange rate, while lower rates provide a more competitive price for the user.
